This module examines art of the Victorian period and takes as its themes: artistic identities and the art market; the global relations of culture; the representation of the body and of difference. It considers a wide range of images of modern life in paint and in print, including urban and rural spaces, domesticity, work and leisure, and explores critical interpretations of the subject.

- Demonstrate critical evaluation of principal art-historical literature on this period.
- Apply underlying concepts to independently researched topic.
