This module focuses on the process of creating work in the Creative Industries, introducing the tools and skills needed by cultural workers today. 

We’ll be joined by industry experts from Brighton Festival, who will discuss the practical aspects of their work, using real-world examples. You’ll also have hands-on opportunities to practise using these tools through exercises that will help you produce high quality work for the rest of your degree.

Module learning outcomes

  • Use key tools related to work in the Creative and Cultural Industries.
  • Discern when it is appropriate to use which specific tools when working in the Creative and Cultural Industries.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the social, cultural and political assumptions reproduced or challenged via the use of specific tools within the creative Industries.
  • Apply practical and theoretical knowledge to reflect on when and why some tools may be preferable to others.
