Motion Design is a dynamic field combining elements of graphic design, animation, and visual effects, to create engaging visual content for a range of digital outputs. This module draws on the principles of graphic design, learned in Year 1, such as, typography, composition, balance, contrast, rhythm and movement, and integrates elements of animation and visual effects to create motion graphics. Students will explore how motion enhances storytelling in short-form media for advertising, how-to / explainer videos, social media content and title sequences for film and television. The module will introduce students to the core principles used in animation and visual effects (VFX), equipping them with knowledge and techniques that can be applied seamlessly in motion projects, to craft visually compelling narratives.
