You will explore two of the most significant critical frameworks in film studies: authorship and genre.
During the first half of term, you will develop your understanding of film authorship by analysing two case studies: an individual director and a studio.
In the second half of term, you will learn about the historical evolution of a specific genre and explore ideas of genre hybridity and genre revisionism.
By building your knowledge of these critical frameworks, the module will help you to hone skills in research and analysis that you will continue to develop throughout your degree.
