This module explores the opportunities, challenges and crises facing the news media globally in today’s economic, technological and social environments. You’ll examine the transformations in the structure and funding of the news media industries, as well as:
- fake news
- the rise of new forms of media content creation
- how the media report on major crises, like health epidemics or the environment.
You will:
- gain a critical understanding of how the news media are changing and how they stay the same in the digital era
- have opportunities to debate issues with members of the industry
- improve your writing, research and analytical skills and gain experience in writing an engaging and accurate report.
