This module will introduce you to concepts and theory relevant to playable media. You will investigate aspects of games studies that will inform an investigation of a broad range of playable media artefacts, both historical and current. The module will consist of a theoretically informed written component and a creative project, in which you will use software and other tools to create your own interactive games/playable media.
Module learning outcomes
- Present ideas for a project that are critically informed in a group presentation.
- Apply methods of critical analysis to work by clearly defining the relationship between the practical and conceptual development of their creative project.
- Demonstrate intermediate level skills in creative media practice by completing a creative groupproject that is of an appropriate level in both form and content.
- Demonstrate critical reflection and theoretical engagement through the production of a thoroughly researched essay.
