Analysing Media: Objects, Operations, Ontologies

Module code: P4130
Level 4
30 credits in spring semester
Teaching method: Lecture, Seminar
Assessment modes: Portfolio

The module offers you the opportunity to develop essential media analysis skills.

Each week you’ll consider different media objects from a range of contexts and industries (for example a piece of code, an AI-generated text, a digital photograph, a podcast, a TV show, a social media post, a videogame) to understand the ways in which such media objects can be interpreted, socio-technically structured and assessed.

The module addresses the concept of “mediation” through instances from the contemporary world and direct engagement with media environments. You’ll have the chance to analyse and engage with a media object of your choice.
