Module learning outcomes
- Critically evaluate the scholarly literature on the history of photography and racial formations, demonstrating the ability to summarise and make judgments about complex positions.
- Develop a range of conceptual, critical, and theoretical tools to analyse visual artifacts from a historiographical perspective.
- Identify, evaluate, and critically interpret primary sources in historical, political, and/or cultural contexts. Understand and interpret ambiguities in primary source materials.
- Display written skills of clarity, rigour, precision and concision in the presentation and criticism of arguments and positions; to display the ability to engage in reasoning of an abstract and theoretical nature; to understand and deploy technical terminology; to develop the ability to locate appropriate historical source material.
