This module introduces you to the literary and intellectual phenomenon of Romanticism, taking place in Britain between approximately 1770 and 1830. The module will cover the major intellectual, political and literary developments of this period, and offer you the chance to study the period’s poetry, novels, and plays.

• Demonstrate broad knowledge of the literary and intellectual history of the period 1770-1830
• Perform informed critical analysis of key literary forms from this period
• Carry out independent research on the period’s ideas and writing
