Acts of Writing 1
Module code: Q3295
Level 4
15 credits in autumn semester
Teaching method: Lecture, Workshop
Assessment modes: Coursework
This module treats writing practice as a way of thinking. Writing can help us to liberate, shape and discipline ideas, and so you will be invited to engage in acts of writing as a way of understanding the form and matter of creative production. The module introduces and scrutinises techniques of writing across academic and artistic disciplines, encouraging you to ask: how can we avoid predictable modes of writing while still learning from the craft of those who went before? Ultimately, the module encourages aspiring writers of various genres, from the academic essay to the review, poem, novel, caption, and modes of performance writing.
