Have you ever wondered why there are so many different ways to ask for a favour or turn down an invitation? In this module, you’ll dive deeper into grammatical structure and conversational interaction, exploring how they work together.
As well as introducing you to the structure of grammar and conversation, there's also a focus on practical data analysis. You’ll develop university-level skills in data analysis and presentation, preparing you for original research.
Module learning outcomes
- Define and explain basic concepts in grammatical analysis and interactional analysis.
- Implement this knowledge in the analysis of natural language data.
- Form hypotheses and use evidence to test hypotheses.
- Present a motivated methodology and a coherent argument.
