Public Speaking: Communication Skills in Theory and Practice
Module code: Q3207E

15 credits in spring semester
Teaching method: Lecture, Workshop

This elective offers a unique opportunity for students to develop their confidence as oral communicators in academic, social and workplace contexts. It combines two elements: i) a theoretical element, asking students to think critically about communication norms and the cultural politics surrounding them; ii) a participatory element in which all students engage in a series of practical workshops in which they will work upon their own confidence, verbal expression and non-verbal behaviour. All students will deliver a final speech and group presentation. This is not an English language training module and is not suitable for students without strong English proficiency.
