On this module, you’ll gain work experience with an employer or charitable volunteer organisation while applying knowledge from your course.
As you observe and reflect on the use of spoken and written language in the workplace, you'll identify an aspect of language use for an in-depth study, using skills and knowledge from other English Language modules.
You'll also reflect on how your findings could improve your own or others’ workplace communication.
Module learning outcomes
- Identify interesting workplace problems and analyse them from a linguistic perspective
- Produce an extended and well-researched analysis of real-life language usage and its relevance to the workplace.
- Reflect in a sophisticated way on the relevance of linguistic study to everyday (work)life.
