This module aims to provide a knowledge and understanding of many factors relating to children and young people’s health and well-being.

You will study key areas of relevance to professional practice with children and young people, whilst critically examining theoretical constructions of wellbeing. The module will incorporate discussion of key facets of well-being in childhood including ecological health with reference to climate change anxiety (e.g. in linking discussion of emotional health, material health, sex and relationships and emotional and behavioural manifestations of difficulty).

Ecological systems theory and psychological frameworks such as resilience, trauma, affect regulation and attachment theory will be used to explore emotional health in children and young people.
