Chancellor's International Scholarships (2025)

A limited number of scholarships are available to international Masters applicants. These are highly competitive and only applicants with excellent academic achievement and potential will be considered. If you have exceptional grades to date, you can apply for a scholarship after you have received an offer to study at the University of Sussex in 2025.

Eligibility

  • Who is eligible

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • Be classified as ‘Overseas’ for fee purposes
    • Be taking up a place on a full time Masters degree, starting September 2025
    • Be self-financing
    • Have exceptional academic grades (see 'Qualifications advice' for indication of minimum grades required; this does not include all accepted qualifications and is instead intended as guidance)

  • Who isn’t eligible

    You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

    • Are applying for a Masters at a university that is not at the University of Sussex
    • Are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex
    • Are studying an online course
    • Are already holding another University of Sussex scholarship (i.e Chancellor's Masters Scholarship)
    • Are studying one of the Excluded courses listed below:

    You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study any of the following:

    • Certificates and Diplomas (including PGCE)
    • Courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS)
    • Courses at IDS
    • Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher status)
    • Degrees in Social work (if receiving an NHS bursary)
    • Online courses
    • School direct teaching courses
    • Masters funded by the Research Councils (e.g. ESRC 1+3 funding)

How to apply

Applicants need an offer of a place on an eligible masters before they can apply for the scholarship. As this is a selective scholarship, applicants need excellent grades/predicted grades to be considered.
