Professional development
Professional development is very important for both individual technicians, technical teams and the University as a whole.
Why is professional development so important?
Individuals cannot learn and develop their skills and interests without the right support. If proper support and training is in place staff are more likley to be able to advance within or outside of the organisation both personally and professionally. This is also in the interest of the University which wants staff to be well training for individuals to advance into higher roles in the organisation.
What professional development can technicians access?
Technicians are open to take advantage of the University's Professional Development resources, found via Sussex Direct.
The University is also now an Affliate Partner of the National Technician Development Centre. This opens up professional development opportunities, which can be viewed on the National Technician Development Centre resources page, including;
- Tech Meets
- Smart Mentoring
- Technician Partnership Conference
Partner membership gives free access to the HETT - Higher Education Technical Taxonomy framework and consultation with our specialist advisers on implementing the career technical pathway.
