Welcoming you back

Below are some suggestions for ways to reconnect with campus and your teams.

As more staff start to return to campus it's important for us all to recognise the shared experience we have all lived through during the pandemic. This is the right time to reconnect not just with each other, but also with the campus and its surrounds.

Cake and a cuppa at the ACCA

When you come back to campus you are welcome to come to one of our sessions at the ACCA café taking place over the summer months. These will give you the chance to meet up with your colleagues and take a look around campus, to see how our buildings and open spaces have changed while many of you have been working from home.

You can now book an 11am or 2pm slot between now and 14 September. It's a great opportunity to meet your teammates face-to-face, so if you'd like to book a large group for one of the sessions please email: events@sussex.ac.uk. Weather permitting you might be able to meet outside on the grass in front of the ACCA café.

Ten places to visit with your team

If the outdoors appeals to you, there are a host of different locations worth visiting just outside our gate: Falmer and Stanmer village, Stanmer Park and Amex Stadium. Take a look at the list below and make some space for yourself to go exploring or do some teambuilding with colleagues.

Ten places to visit in & around campus

Sussexsport staff activities

To help welcome staff back to campus, Sussexsport will be hosting dedicated events for University staff in August.

They are also able to facilitate bespoke indoor and outdoor fitness activities (e.g. badminton; table tennis; tennis; guided walks) to assist with teambuilding staff groups returning to campus. To arrange a session for your team please email Deputy Head (Participation and Competition Sport), Luke Terrill: l.o.terrill@sussex.ac.uk

The Meeting House and Chaplaincy

A reminder that the Chaplaincy provide a wellbeing service for the whole campus community.

The Meeting House is not only an excellent place for chilling out, chatting with friends or eating your lunch, as well the base for chaplains working on campus. They run regular meditation sessions which you can out more about on the Chaplaincy webpage.

It may provide a space for you to take time out if you are feeling anxious.
