Every year, colleagues in the School of Media, Arts and Humanities organise a one-day ‘Work in Progress Conference’ for MA students. The Conference is a supportive and enjoyable chance to present ideas in a friendly environment and connect with MA students across the disciplines in the School.
The 2023 conference took place on Friday 9 June in the Silverstone’s plush cinema room, in which 35 students from 10 Masters' programmes across the School shared work on everything from the digital panopticon of the video games industry, to the ‘petrocultural feminine’. The brilliant perspectives of many countries and cultures gave the day extra interest, in debates on Brazilian Cuíer vs English queer and how to use creative city concepts to develop the creative economy in Brunei, China or India. The day ended with drinks and nibbles in Dhaba Square.
The conference was organised by Prof Margaretta Jolly, Dr Luke Robinson and Naomi Harris. Prof Jolly, Dr Robinson, Dr Marina Dekavalla, Dr Katherine Farrimond, Dr Gemma Cobb, Dr Ludmila Lupinacci and Dr Naaz Rashid chaired panels.
