[Upbeat instrumental music plays]
[An opening graphic that reads: 'Welcome to Media, Arts and Humanities' over a blue paint background]
[Interior shot of Arts A. Jason Price, Co-Associate Dean of Student Experience, is standing next to a sign that reads: School of Media, Arts and Humanities]
Jason Price: Hi, I'm Jason Price and welcome to Media, Arts and Humanities. In this video I'm going to introduce you to some key faces and places to help you make the most out of your Welcome Week. Come on!
[Exterior shot of the Arts A building, including the courtyard and pond. Jason Price crosses the courtyard toward the camera]
Jason Price: The first place on our tour is the School office. This way!
[Interior shot of the School office, Arts A7. Jason Price is sitting with Aggie Steeles, a Course Coordinator]
Jason Price: We’re now in the School office with Aggie. Aggie, tell us what students can find here.
Aggie Steeles: If students aren't sure where to go, they can come to the school office and we can answer general queries. The course coordinators also work in the school office. A student can come and see their course coordinator if they have question about their timetable, their optional modules or course-specific questions.
Jason Price: Oh, that's great. And if students aren't able to physically come, in can they email?
Aggie Steeles: Yeah, absolutely. Students can email the School office, and our email address is below.
[A graphic on-screen reads: media-arts-humanities@sussex.ac.uk]
Jason Price: Thank you so much, Aggie. We're now going to move to the Student Experience office. Come on.
[Jason Price exits the School office. Sped-up footage of Jason Price walking through the corridors of the Arts A building to the Student Experience Office in Arts A65]
[Interior shot of the Student Experience Office. Jason Price sits opposite Simon Boyle, Student Experience Coordinator]
Jason Price: We're now in the Student Experience office with Simon. Simon, why don't you tell us a little bit about Student Experience?
Simon Boyle: So what we deal with in Student Experience, we deal with wellbeing, signposting, and academic progress and student community, things like that.
Jason Price: Brilliant. So if students were concerned about their wellbeing or their academic progress, they could come here and you might tell them what other offices could support them?
Simon Boyle: Yeah. So, we would signpost them to other areas of the university that can give targeted help. For example, the student centre. Or the English Language for Academic Study, which is the ELAS service.
Jason Price: Fantastic. And is it okay for students just to come in here?
Simon Boyle: Yeah. They can come in, we’re open 9 to 5, Monday to Friday.
Jason Price: Fantastic. And if they're not able to physically come into this space, can they email you?
Simon Boyle: They can. And the email is underneath, here.
[A graphic on-screen reads: mah-studentexperience@sussex.ac.uk]
Jason Price: Brilliant. Thank you so much. And now we're off to the Arts A lecture theatre. Follow me.
[Jason Price exits the Student Experience office. Sped-up footage of Jason Price walking through the corridors of the Arts A, into the courtyard, and across toward the Arts A Lecture Theatre]
[Exterior shot of the Arts A lecture theatre. Sped-up footage of Jason Price entering the building and, subsequently, Arts A2 lecture theatre]
[Interior shot of Arts A2 lecture theatre. Jason sits at the front of the theatre]
Jason Price: And finally, we're here in Arts A lecture theatre. This is actually Arts A2, the venue for a special event on Friday the 20th of September, the final day of our Welcome Week. The event is entitled “The Importance of Media, Arts and Humanities,” and all new students are invited to attend.
And immediately after the event, all students are invited to a drinks reception at the Arts A Courtyard, which is where we started our tour. Follow me.
[Jason Price exits the Arts A2 lecture theatre. Sped-up footage of Jason Price walking back toward the courtyard]
[Interior shot of Jason Price standing next to the sign reading ‘School of Media, Arts and Humanities’ from the beginning of the video]
Jason Price: And now we're back where we started. If you require any additional information about Welcome Week, do check out our Welcome Week web pages.
[An on-screen graphic reads: https://www.sussex.ac.uk/schools/media-arts-humanities/internal/students/timetable]
There you'll also be able to download a poster entitled “Where to Go for Help.”
And of course, you know, if you're on campus, you can go to the School office or to the Student Experience office in order to speak directly with people who can direct you on to the relevant sources.
We're looking forward to seeing you soon. Thank you.
