HEIF (Higher Education Innovation Funds)

Apply now for £5,000 for your Knowledge Exchange (KE) project

Have you got an idea that may be of mutual benefit to a non-academic partner: a cultural or social organisation, business of any size, or the public sector? Can you plant the seeds of an innovative solution to a future problem?

If the answer is yes, then this internal fund may be for you.

You could use the funds to for example:

  • get together interested parties to brainstorm ideas and solutions to existing or foreseen future needs
  • explore possible CPD sessions to skill up a particular sector
  • work with a non-academic partner(s) to co-develop something or test an idea
  • explore a new way to do a thing, help establish a new practice or a new standard
  • test your idea in the real world

Eligibility and conditions:

  1. Cannot be a stand-alone project or one-off event but have a plan for the future.
  2. Projects must include working with non-academic partner(s).
  3. Work must be of mutual benefit, towards addressing a specific need or issue.
  4. Funds must be spent by 31st July 2025.

Open deadline: applications will be reviewed as they are received and awards made until the funds run out. Average awards of up to £5K, but more possible. Apply now!

This funding is available through our annual allocation of Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) block grant.

See this “What is Knowledge Exchange” infogram for more information about KE.
