Student Wellbeing Update- February 2025

The Wellbeing Team welcomes you back and wishes you a fulfilling and enjoyable second semester! This newsletter contains information about events happening next term (including one called canine cuddles) and support available to you.
Canine Cuddles:
Having a “ruff” day? Well, “fur” semester 2, the Wellbeing and Spirit of Sussex Award team have “embarked” on the “oppawtunity” to bring Canine Concern to campus once a week! These sessions will take place every Tuesday from 12–2 pm, unless otherwise stated. You can find more information and sign up on this link!
Wellbeing Stalls:
You can find the locations and themes of our wellbeing stalls on the Student Wellbeing Canvas site. Simply click on the "Where is the Wellbeing Stall" section at the top of the page for all the details. There's no need to book—just drop by and join us! Every Monday, we'll be touring the campus, and every Thursday, you'll find us in the Student Centre with exciting themed activities!
Speed mates for Neuro-divergent students – Buddy Scheme X Disability Advice:
The buddy scheme and disability advice are collaborating for Neurodivergent student speed mates on the 3rd February 2025 from 12noon-1:30pm in the debating chamber in Falmer House. There will be timed rounds of 5-10 minutes for you to meet as many people as possible. There is a quiet space for you to go to if you feel overwhelmed. Follow this link to sign up for a free ticket!
Grief and Loss:
We have compiled some information about grief and bereavement for students. You can now attend a monthly group support group led by the lead chaplain, James Croft. This group provides a space to share experiences or simply find support—sharing is optional. This takes place on the first Friday of each month from 12-2 in the quiet room of the meeting house.
Valentine's at Sussex:
Caring for Ourselves, Others and the Planet : Looking for a way to unwind, connect, and celebrate Valentine’s a little differently this year? We’ve got you covered!
Join us for Valentine's at Sussex: Caring for Ourselves, Others and the Planet, happening on: Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 February , 11am - 3pm at the Student Centre Drop in anytime to enjoy a range of completely free activities designed to help you relax, recharge, and spread a little love—whether it’s for yourself, your friends, the planet or even some furry friends!
Here’s a selection of what’s waiting for you to boost your wellbeing: Meet cuddly animals, pamper pop-up, free food, arts corner, sensory room, craft activities, film screening, Lego Play...
Most activities are drop-in but some will require booking due to limited places - check our ticket page nearer the time for free tickets. Bring your friends or come solo - either way, you’ll leave feeling the love. We can’t wait to see you there!

Togetherall:
Togetherall is a 24/7 digital platform offering anonymous peer support for mental health. It provides a safe, moderated space for users to share experiences, connect with others, and access self-help tools. It fosters resilience and wellbeing through community support and guided resources for personal growth.
