What made you choose this apprenticeship programme?
I was keen to work on my personal development within my communications role and I saw the course advertised and was intrigued to find out more. The course entailed learning more about communications and the digital processes for data gathering using Google Analytics. This was relevant to what I was doing in my role, and I am a digital geek, so the data side really appealed to me.
Please summarise why you opted to complete an apprenticeship instead of other educational career paths.
The apprenticeship allowed me to study alongside working and build up my knowledge and skills which I have been able to share with colleagues and bring into my everyday working processes.
Could you share specific skills or knowledge you've acquired that you didn't have prior to the apprenticeship?
I have learnt how to use GA4 Google Analytics which I did not have prior knowledge of, I have also learnt about different marketing platforms and how to use them.
How did you balance your work and study commitments?
Within the apprenticeship you are expected to self-study 6 hours a week, I set this time out in my working week calendar to make sure I had dedicated time for this. This was shared with my team and agreed with my line manager.
What were some of the major challenges you encountered throughout your apprenticeship and how did you overcome them?
It has been a bit of a juggling act balancing the apprenticeship with working, studying and being a mum. At times some areas have taken priority over others, but I felt my team and training provider have been supportive throughout the entire process.
What support have you had during your apprenticeship from your training provider and your manager?
Throughout the apprenticeship I have had an excellent tutor who has provided both online and in-person study support. She was contactable out of teaching times if I had any queries. The team at Creative Process are very friendly and helpful and my line managers have been very supportive and encouraging. Throughout the process I have had regular progress reviews with them and the training provider. My line manager at the time, provided extra support by checking my written work and ensuring I had enough time to complete my studying.
Aside from the theory and new skills what else have you gained from the apprenticeship programme?
I also achieved a Certificate in Marketing Principles and an Award in Principles of Coding.
If you could swap lives with a cartoon character for a day, who would it be and why?
I would like to be Agent Lucy Wilde from Despicable Me and fight villains and work with lots of Minions for the day.
