‘Worktribe’ Research Management System set to roll out to schools
Posted on behalf of: The Better Sussex Team
Last updated: Friday, 31 May 2024
Our new Research Management System ‘Worktribe’ first launched to staff in Research and Innovation and academic approvers in May 2024. This week sees the start of the second stage of the rollout as the system is introduced to academic staff who will be submitting applications for research and knowledge exchange funding, and professional and technical services staff in schools who support externally funded research and knowledge exchange activity.
What is Worktribe?
For those new to the system, Worktribe is a new cloud-based system that will support research staff and academics through the pre-award grant application process, including costing, proposal development, internal approvals, and application submission. Worktribe will also provide a platform for managing the negotiation and agreement of research contracts. The new system will make daily work processes significantly easier and improve collaboration on research proposals across the university.
What are the benefits?
The new Worktribe system aims to streamline research application processes for staff involved in research across the University. The benefits of the new system will include a shared platform for academic and professional services colleagues for proposal development and management, as well as a new project-costing tool, the ability to conduct internal peer reviews and the capacity to capture external peer reviews too. The system also allows the capture of external partner information and project risk assessments. Critically, the new functionality will for the first time offer multiple users access to the same project details.
What changes can research staff expect?
Staff involved in research can expect to see some changes to the existing research application process as a result of the system rollout. Going forward from June, researchers will upload research proposals directly to Worktribe, and will work in collaboration with Research and Innovation & RDMs (Research Developmental Managers) to add details and costings to the proposal, before submitting for approval directly on the system.
