Sussex AI launch

Sussex AI had its official launch on campus on Thursday 1 February, and what a great event it was!
With more than 250 participants, including our Vice Chancellor (Sasha Roseneil) and Provost (Michael Luck), we had academic colleagues and talented PhD candidates from right across the University, as well as representatives from many companies.
With a few short talks and over 50 posters and demonstrations prepared by Sussex AI staff and students from different Schools, this was a fantastic networking opportunity for all attendees. We have heard of many new connections being made and are looking forward to many fruitful future projects.
With so many excellent posters and demos highlighting the diverse range of research conducted within Sussex AI it was difficult to pick stand-out candidates for prizes. However, eventually the winners of the competition for best posters and demos were:
Steve Symons (Best Demo)
Amany Azevedo Amin (Commendable Demo)
Sanduni Pinnawala (Commendable Demo)
Dexter Shepherd (Best Poster)
Peter Wijeratne (Commendable Poster)
Naomi 'Nay' Newman (Commendable Poster)
Zainab Aizaz (Commendable Poster)
Chloe Hopling (Commendable Poster)
Congratulations to you all!
We would like to thank all our sponsors for their generous contributions. Special thanks to our Gold Sponsors, who provided prizes for the best posters and demos: Sussex Tech Week, Green Lemon Company, Virtusales Publishing Solutions, and Rittman Mead. Thanks also go to our Silver Sponsors: Vixen Digital, Astute AI, CASM Technology, Integrity, and DataRobot.
