Kasia Mojescik’s first paper of her PhD has been published in Collabra: Psychology. The title is The relationship between subjective memory experience and objective memory performance remains stable across the life and it isco-authored by Chris Bird, Flavia de Luca, Sam Berens and Maureen Ritchey.
In this pre-registered experiment on 100 young adults and 100 healthy older adults, we found that older adults did perform more poorly on memory tasks, but the relationship between subjective memory experience and objective memory performance remained stable throughout life. Whether you’re young or old, you use the gist of the situation to judge how vividly and confidently you remember.
