Subject Chairman of the Biology Subject Group from October 1990 to September 1993.
Board of Directors Horticulture Research International from April 1993 to June 1999.
Dean, School of Biological Sciences, University of Sussex from July 1999 to June 2003.
Visiting Professor, University of Western Australia from August 2003.
Visiting Professor, University of Lanzhou, China from September 2006.
I currently (from2008) curate a database of salt-tolerant plants.

I currently curate a unique database of salt-tolerant plants that was developed at the University of Sussex, based on a book published by James Aronson in 1989.
