Biography
Helen has 25+ years experience of partnership and programme delivery in arts and education sectors. She has initiated, led and delivered a diverse range of projects and programmes from school improvement partnerships in museums to multi-million-pound capital projects. Her career started in Belfast in the late 1990's and is rooted in bringing people together through culture.
Recent previous roles:
Senior Project Manager at Arts Council England 2019-2023: Initiated and led the relocation of the Arts Council Collection stores, a cross-functional capital and organisational change programme. Partners included Coventry City Council, Culture Coventry Trust, British Council, Southbank Centre, University of Coventry.
Relationship Manager at Arts Council England 2014-2019: Managed Arts Council's relationship across a portfolio of clients throughout SE England i.e. National Portfolio Organisations and Music Education Hubs.
Head of Learning, Towner Art Gallery 2007-2014: Senior Leadership team role which oversaw the organisational change programme resulting in a collection relocation, flagship capital build project and attaining charitable trust status.
Role
Helen joined Sussex in February 2023 as Senior Project Manager for Curriculum Reimagined, an institutional review as part of the Education & Students portfolio.
In October 2024 Helen took on an additional role as Senior Project Manager for the Division of Library, Culture & Heritage.
Community and Business
Helen is a sub committee member of Brighton Museums Trust. A position she has held since March 2023. This committee provides strategic guidance in relation the trust's Arts Council England funding and reporting.
From 2019-2023 Helen was a board member of Platform B Radio, Brighton's youth led radio station.
