Biography

Dr Patrizia Casadei is a Research Fellow at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex Business School. Her research focuses on local economic development, cultural and creative industries and the relationship between creativity, economy and cities, with a particular focus on the fashion industry and its role in urban economies. Her recent research includes work aimed at examining the configuration and geographies of the UK textile and apparel industry through a global value chain approach and a focus on manufacturing reshoring and the consequences of Brexit. Moreover, she is currently working on analysing relatedness and structural changes affecting UK trade in creative services. Prior to joining SPRU, she was Post-doc Research Officer at the Department of Geography and Environment of the London School of Economics (LSE). She holds a PhD in Development Economics and Local Systems from the University of Trento, an MSc and BSc in Economics and Management from the University of Florence. She has been Visiting PhD Researcher at the LSE and Royal Holloway University of London, and Guest Lecturer at the Erasmus University Rotterdam for the Master ‘Global Markets, Local Creativities’.
