Biography

Loreto is a clinical child and youth psychologist from the University of Chile. She is currently a doctoral researcher from the Childhood and Youth Ph.D. at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom. 

Previously, she worked as a research assistant in several research projects at the Department of Psychology (University of Chile). These research projects were related to the research line of psychotherapy with children and young people victims of sexual abuse. She has also worked as a child psychotherapist in Chilean public Centres specialized in the treatment of sexual abuse for several years.

Her research interests are the psychotherapeutic process in young children that have lived through child sexual abuse and traumatic experiences especially in the use of innovative methodologies when researching with them. She has been a co-author on several publications in this line of research and presented papers in several international and Chilean conferences.

Currently, she is the Postgraduate Research Assistant from CIRCY (Centre for Innovation and Research in Childhood and Youth - www.sussex.ac.uk/esw/circy/) at the University of Sussex, led by Professors Michelle Lefevre as director, and Rebecca Webb and Jo-Moran Ellis as co-directors.

Loreto awarded a scholarship from the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) from Chile to follow doctoral studies abroad (BECAS CHILE).
