Biography

Denise is a qualified teacher and educational psychologist. She has worked for a number of local authorities as an educational psychologist, advisor and strategic manager. She has also taught in a number of different universities including the University of Brighton, Chichester and the Institute of Education, University College London. Her current research interests focus on supporting and improving the quality of early childhood education and care through evidence based professional development. She has worked on a number of research projects and supported researchers internationally wishing to use the SSTEW Scale [Assessing Quality in Early Childhood Education and Care. Sustained Shared Thinking and Emotional Wellbeing (SSTEW) Scale for 2 – 5 year olds provision(Siraj, Kingston and Melhuish, 2015)] as part of their research which she a co-authored.

Role

Denise is a senior lecturer in the department of education. She is the course leader for the BA Primary and Early Years Education (with qualified teacher status) and the BA Primary and Early Years Education.
