MPS Student Mentors
Looking to get the best possible experience from your time at Sussex? Improve your academic knowledge and university life skills with the MPS mentoring scheme.
About the mentors scheme
The Mentoring Scheme provides all students with support on a range of academic issues. Mentors can help with big and small problems. The scheme provides an opportunity for students to discuss difficulties and develop academic skills. Mentors do not provide personal tuition and instead help you get into a good routine with your learning, confidence, and time management.
All of our mentors are current PhD students. They have been through the worries and difficulties of studying and are here to share their insight and skills with other students. Mentors are trained and are paid for their work.
We are always looking for ways to improve how we can support students. If you have any feedback or suggestions on how to improve the mentor scheme, please e-mail mpsstudentexperience@sussex.ac.uk.
Drop-in Sessions
Every Wednesday, 3-4pm our lovely student mentor Mariana Chan-Dominquez, PhD Maths, hosts a drop-in session for all students to join.
It's a great opportunity to ask questions and say hello to fellow students.
Please see the MPS All Taught Canvas page for the link, or e-mail mpsstudentexperience@sussex.ac.uk.
You don't have to join for the full hour - you can even just drop in for 5 minutes to ask a specific question!
How to book
Mentors can be booked via careerhub. These sessions will be held via zoom.
Alternatively, you can e-mail one of our mentors directly.
Sessions are subject to student demand. If you do not see a booking slot available, please e-mail mpsstudentexperience@sussex.ac.uk and we will see what we can do to help.
