Collection Description

The papers of economist Paul Thomas Homan (1893–1969) comprise correspondence, drafts and press-cuttings from his work during the years 1957–64. Homan’s career included assistant professorships and a professorship of economics at the University of California and Cornell University respectively. He became managing editor of American Economic Review in 1941 and was on the staff of the Council of Economic Advisors to President Truman (1947–50). The files in his papers relate to his journalism and include drafts and proofs of pieces for magazines such as the Economic Review and the New Statesman. The collection was donated to the University of Sussex in 1969 by Mrs Matilda Etches Homan who retained the copyright.
