Sussex Research Hive

Please note: the Research Hive will be closed for refurbishment from 10th July 2024 until early August.

We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause as we make essential improvements to the space. Please contact library.researchsupport@sussex.ac.uk if you have any concerns or questions.

Interested in being a Hive Scholar?

Each year we appoint 3 Sussex doctoral researchers who have the creativity, enthusiasm and initiative to develop the Library's Research Hive.

The next Scholarship will run from September 2024 to the end of July 2025. The scholarship attracts a bursary of £3575 (supported by SAGE Publications).

How to apply

The scholarships are open to Sussex doctoral researchers who are currently registered and intend to stay registered until summer 2025. This opportunity is open to researchers already holding another scholarship but it is the responsibility of the applicant to confirm that their existing scholarship would permit them to apply. Applications should take the form of a statement clearly outlining how you meet the criteria listed in the person specification, together with a short CV, and be sent to library.researchsupport@sussex.ac.uk. The closing date for applications is midnight on 9th July 2024 and interviews will be held on 18th and 19th July 2024, in person. Please specify in your application if you are unable to make one of these dates. Although the scholarship will not begin until September, the successful candidates will ideally be able to meet informally during the summer.

For an informal discussion about the scholarships, please contact Maggie Symes, Research & Open Scholarship Librarian M.Symes@sussex.ac.uk or Dr Tomasz Kowalczyk, Research & Open Scholarship Supervisor T.Kowalczyk@sussex.ac.uk

The Research Hive Scholars contribute to the SAGE Perspectives blog

  • Research Hive Scholars

Three Research Hive Scholars support the space, engaging with researchers at the university to find out what they want from their community, planning events in response and fostering a supportive network here at Sussex.
