About the USS
USS is the pension scheme for academic staff and professional services staff on grades 7-10.

Contributions
The current member contribution rate is 6.1%.
Benefits of the scheme
If you are a member of USS, you get the following benefits:
- a guaranteed income for life once you retire
- build up a one-off cash lump sum, which you can take at retirement
- valuable life assurance for your beneficiaries if you die.
The USS may also pay you a pension if you can’t work because of ill health.
