Centre for Global Health Policy

Venue

Traveling from Abroad:

The closest airport to Brighton is Gatwick Airport, which is only 30 minutes by train. Heathrow, Stansted and Luton are substantially farther, taking anywhere from 2 to 3 hours by train or coach. The workshop will reimburse economy class tickets for those needing to fly to the conference.

Traveling to the University of Sussex campus and the workshop:

The easiest way to reach the University of Sussex Campus is to take a train to Falmer station. These leave from Brighton or Lewes stations four times an hour. The train will also be the easiest way to travel from the workshop to the hotels located in central Brighton. Please keep all train tickets for reimbursement. Again, the workshop will only be able to reimburse economy class train tickets.

More detailed information on trains, buses, taxis, driving and parking can be found at the following link, though our workshop will be held in a different location on campus.

Once you reach Falmer station follow signs to the University of Sussex (under the motorway) to reach the campus. A campus map is included. The workshop will be held in Arts A 108, which is located at point F on the campus map. There will be signs in the Arts A building to help you find the room. If you get lost, feel free to give me a call at +44 759 607 6763.

Hotels:

Participants will be staying in one of two hotels located in central Brighton: the Jurys Inn and the King’s Hotel. Your hotel accommodation will be paid in advance by the workshop.

Participants only staying one night in Brighton will be staying at the Jurys Inn, which is located very near to the train station. When exiting the ticketing gates, turn immediately to your left and walk on the wooden path to the left of the Cyclist bar. This path leads to the back entry to the station. The Jury’s Inn is 100m from the back entrance to the station. We will travel to the Jury’s Inn from campus together on Friday evening to have dinner there. Thus, those staying Friday night can check in at this point.

Participants staying more than one night in Brighton will stay at the King’s Hotel, which is located on the sea front and is approximately a 20-minute walk from Brighton Station. If this walk is too demanding with luggage, please keep taxi receipts for reimbursement. To get there, walk straight out of the station and continue down Queen’s road to the sea front. When reaching the sea front, turn right and the King’s Hotel will be on the right after 0.4 miles.
