Prof Sasha Roseneil visited Mahidol in 2023
Sussex Global Engagement and Mahidol’s Global Partnerships Division are excited to announce the launch of Round Two of the Mahidol Sussex Seed Fund, a collaborative initiative with Thailand’s Mahidol University. The scheme, that launches today, Monday, 23rd September 2024, will focus on building research collaborations between Mahidol researchers and Sussex’s Centres of Excellence (CoEs).
Designed to enhance strategic partnerships, the Seed Fund provides financial support for projects addressing global challenges. Jointly funded grants of up to £20,000 are available for three projects. Supported activities include:
- Research group visits
- Joint funding proposals
- Internationally co-authored publications
- Interdisciplinary research programmes
- Collaborative workshops
The fund covers costs such as travel, accommodation, and equipment, enabling successful projects to grow over the course of one year.
Eligible applicants include all academic faculty and professional services staff from Sussex CoEs, as well as Mahidol researchers from any discipline. While students and PhDs cannot apply directly, their involvement in proposals is encouraged. This round encourages applications from a wide range of research areas, particularly those aligned with the Centres of Excellence.
Sussex’s partnership with Mahidol University, one of Thailand’s top institutions, is strategically designed to bolster international research capacity. With strengths in biotechnology, medical sciences, and environmental research, Mahidol offers an ideal partnership for cutting-edge research collaboration.
Application Deadline: Submissions are due by Friday, 15th November. For those needing assistance in connecting with Mahidol counterparts, Sussex’s Global Engagement team is available to help facilitate connections, please contact Louise Turton, L.A.Turton@sussex.ac.uk
