PG Poster Presentation 2012
The 2012 Postgraduate Poster Presentation was held on Friday 13th July in Informatics Lab 1.
The event was a great success with over 40 posters presented and the lab crowded with postgraduate students, faculty and guests from industry. The standard was high, and four students were awarded prizes.
The prize of £200 for Best PGR Poster was awarded to Andrew Robertson for his poster entitled "Extracting syntactic structure from microblogs".
The prize of £200 for Best MSc Poster was awarded to Olga Lukyanova for her poster entitled "Using the Braid Theory for Description of Neural Networks".
There were also two £100 prizes for runners up in the Best MSc Poster category, which went to Mariana Rojas-Morao for her poster entitled "Energy Efficient Programming", and to Konstantinos Tolias for his poster entitled "Ask the Audience Style Voting via Smartphone App".
Prizes were awarded according to the following criteria:
- Clearly explains and motivates the research question.
- Presents a coherent and comprehensible method and plan for the project.
- Quality of the poster design - clear, informative and with aesthetic appeal.
