An EBV Association General meeting was held on November 9, 2008 at the Baiyun Conference center in Guangzhou, China.
- Elections for officers and the governing board of the EBV association were held. Current board members eligible for a second 2-year term were re-elected unopposed. The successful candidates were: George Sai-Wah Tsao (Hong Kong), Yu-Sun Chang (Taiwan), Alison Sinclair (UK), and Stephan Gottschalk (USA). The proposed candidates for new board members included: Erle Robertson (USA), Rosemary Rochford (USA), Bettina Kempkes (GER), Martin Allday (UK), Lori Frappier (CAN), Patrice Morand (FRA). The new members were elected unopposed.
- The EBV association treasurer, Sankar Swaminathan, informed meeting participants that the Association will award 10 travel scholarships to post-doctoral and graduate students giving oral presentations.
- Prof. Lawrence Young announced that the next EBV meeting will be held in Birmingham England on September 4-8, 2010. Dr. Young gave a short preview of the meeting facilities. In addition, Dr. Young challenged the association members to consider being more proactive in raising the profile of EBV research within the scientific community and the public.
- The EBV association and meeting participants thanked Yi-Xin Zeng and Mu-Sheng Zheng for all of their hard work to make the meeting successful.
A Board meeting of the EBV association was held on November 10, 2008 at the Baiyun Conference center in Guangzhou, China.
- The board members discussed potential candidates for replacing EBV association board members whose terms are ending.
- The board received a financial report from the treasurer.
- Prof. Lawrence Young discussed plans for the conference to be held September 4-8 in Birmingham in 2010.
- The board discussed arrangements for having the EBV conference in Philadelphia in 2012 (which will be organized by Paul Lieberman and Erle Robertson).
- Several topics were also discussed, including:
- the role of the EBV association for the scientific community and the general public
- fostering an increased clinical presence at EBV conferences
- ways to increase interactive participation of senior scientists with junior investigators and students at future meetings

- The planned location for the next EBV Association Conference was announced.The next meeting will be in Beijing, People's Republic of China (2008).
- Elections for Officers and the Governing Board of the EBV Association were held. The proposed candidates for Officers (President, Zeng Yi-xin; Vice-President, Lawrence Young; Secretary, Paul Ling) were elected unopposed. The proposed candidates for new Board members were also elected unopposed. The successful candidates were: Yu-Sun Chang, George Sai-Wah Tsao, Stephen Gottschalk and Alison Sinclair.
- The Board announced that Nancy Raab-Traub had decided to step down as Treasurer and Sankar Swaminathan was appointed for the next two years.
- The retiring President and members of the Governing Board were thanked for their contribution to the Association.

- Planned locations for future EBV Association Conferences were announced. The next meeting will be in Miami, Florida, USA (2006, Fred Wang) and the 2008 meeting will be organised in Guangzhou, China.
- Elections for Officers and the Governing Board of the EBV Association were held. The proposed candidates for Officers (President, Fred Wang; Vice-President, Zeng Yi-xin; Secretary, Tom Sculley) were elected unopposed. Nominations were received for new Board members. From these candidates, Shannon Kenney, Richard Longnecker, Andrew Morgan, Friedrich Grasser, Evelyne Manet and Gerald Niedobitek were elected by the membership.
- The Board announced that Nancy Raab-Traub had been appointed as Treasurer for a further two years.

- Planned locations for future EBV Association Conferences were announced. The next meeting will be in Germany (2004, Hans Wolf) and the 2006 meeting will be organised in Boston. There is a proposal to hold the 2008 conference in Guangzhou, China.
- Elections for Officers and the Governing Board of the EBV Association were held. The proposed candidates for Officers (President, Hans Wolf; Vice-President, Lindsey Hutt-Fletcher; Secretary, Tom Sculley) were elected unopposed. Nominations were received for new Board members. From these candidates, Takeshi Sairenji, Clare Sample, Ih Jen Su, Fred Wang and Joanna Wilson were elected by the membership.
- The Board announced that Nancy Raab-Traub had been appointed as Treasurer for a further two years.
- The retiring President, Secretary and members of the Governing Board were thanked for their contribution to the Association.
- The Treasurer reported that the Association has a current balance of $ 48532 in its bank account.
- Members were notified that EBV Report will probably cease publication in its current form at the end of 2002. Members who have paid for a 2003 subscription via the EBV Association will receive a refund of about $90 at the end of 2002 if the journal stops publication.

- The meeting discussed arrangements for the Regensburg conference in 2004. Prof Hans Wolf introduced Berit Bruddigen who will act as local organiser for the meeting on his behalf.
- The Board received a financial report from the Treasurer and was briefed on a message from EBV Report that the journal will probably cease publication at th eend of 2002. The Board declined to support the journal financially.
- The Board discussed the Cairns meeting and thanked the organisers of the Cairns meeting for their excellent work in hosting the conference. A Board Meeting of the EBV Association was held on 7th July 2001 at the Century Royal Hotel, Sapporo, Japan. The meeting discussed arrangements for the Cairns conference in 2002 and financial support from the EBV Association for the Cairns meeting with the organisers.
An EBV Association General Meeting was held at Yale University on Monday 26th June, 2000 at 3.30pm.
- Planned locations for future EBV Association Conferences were announced. The next meeting will be in Cairns, Australia (2002, organisers Tom Sculley and Dennis Moss), followed by Germany (2004, Hans Wolf) and Boston in 2006.

The proposed candidates for Officers (President, Ingemar Ernberg; Vice-President, Tom Sculley; Secretary, Paul Farrell) were elected unopposed. Nominations were received for Lawrence Young, Kai Tai Yao, Cliona Rooney, Pierre Busson, Lindsey Hutt-Fletcher and Riccardo Dolcetti as Board members. These candidates were elected by the membership.
