Doctoral researcher receives award at Sussex Impact and Research Awards
Congratulations to Nicolette Fox, doctoral researcher in the School of Business, Management and Economics, who received an Impact Award for Public Engagement at the Sussex Impact and Research Awards on Tuesday 14th June.
The awards were announced at a celebratory reception in the Jubilee Atrium by the Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor - Research, at the close of Sussex Impact Day.
The Public Engagement award recognises the different ways in which Sussex is working with organisations, groups, communities and the general public to ensure our research is helping tackle the challenges in the world in which we live.
Nicolette's award recognises her research into producing and using renewable energy in UK households. Her study, Take 7 - sharing solar stories for greater engagement and impact, explores what happens when seven families with pre-payment meters are given solar panels. The research has led to information leaflets being produced with three councils and has been turned into a short film for a public fuel poverty event. It has also been used by a water company, council and national consumer organisation to help shape a project on engaging households around high water use.
