Turbochargers are playing an important part in increasing IC Engine efficiency by allowing output power to be maintained at the same time as aggressive engine downsizing. Research is underway to model the dynamic behaviour of very high speed turbocharger rotor and bearing behaviour when the turbocharger is mounted on a high-power lightweight downsized engine.
