The AMOCATIC generator is a totally-balanced single-cylinder rotary IC engine-generator concept for producing electrical power.  It may prove very suitable as a Range Extender for ultra-low CO2 hybrid electric vehicles for 2020 - 2040 and beyond.  This patented technology offers:

  i)   High efficiency through downsizing  to  one cylinder, reduced friction, and low generator torque.

  ii)   Low noise and vibration through total balance.

  iii)  Light-weight and compactness.

  iv)  Kinetic energy storage capability as a flywheel KERS (though not essential for functionality). 

Piston position control is potentially much easier with this concept than with existing Free Piston engine generators. Research is underway to prove the concept in hardware.
