Keen to hear more from our Sussex Bay partners? This is your opportunity to discover how our research can enable their mission to create a healthy blue ecosystem on our doorstep.
Introducing Sussex Bay is a workshop for researchers taking place on Tuesday, 21 January, 10:30 - 13:00 in G30, Jubilee Building which will look at ways to develop collaborations with external partners.
What’s on the agenda?
Dr Lewis White, Research Lead for Sussex Bay, will highlight the evidence-based approach being adopted to ensure that knowledge is used to enable sustainable change across the 100 miles of Sussex waters from Chichester to Camber Sands, out to 12 nautical miles and into the intertidal zones of the Sussex river catchments, wetlands and saltmarshes.
Dr Shova Karki will share an outline of research Sussex Bay are undertaking in collaboration with the University of Sussex to better understand the Blue Governance of Sussex. The objectives of this project are to gain an holistic understanding of decision-making governance impacting the marine and coastal environment in the county and to identify decisions which directly or indirectly impact the marine and coastal environment in a local context.
Together this work will provide an insight of decision-making in our local area, providing us with the evidence to support more localised planning in the future. This work is being funded by the Marine Management Organisation, the public body that manages fisheries, marine licensing, marine planning and marine conservation in England.
