Students had a chance to make their voices heard at two Sussex 2035 strategy engagement events on Wednesday 6 December 2023.
The Vice Chancellor, Sasha Roseneil, hosted both a lunchtime and dinner event with invited student representatives to discuss our plan for the next ten crucial years at Sussex. The informal café-style event was a chance for students to get together to discuss and debate our values, mission & purpose, and vision – facilitated by members of the University’s leadership team.
Lively discussion focused on how we see ourselves as a community, both now and in the future: who we are, what we are about, and where we are going as a University. As well as discussing these key areas in small groups, students were asked to capture their thoughts on paper, post-it notes, and using flipcharts.
A fantastic selection of vegetarian and vegan festive food was provided by our catering colleagues, with the chocolate yule log proving a particularly big hit.
Thank you to all students who took the time to attend and for engaging with the Sussex 2035 strategy with such enthusiasm - lots of useful and constructive feedback was received and it has all been noted. Alongside feedback that we will be collecting throughout the spring term, the comments from these two events will be key in helping us to shape the next strategy.
If you would like to share your thoughts, why not take our short strategy survey? There will also be plenty of other opportunities for our community to engage in the spring term, so do keep a lookout for more information.
