Making caring visible and supported during Carers Week 2022

Carers Week, which takes place from 6 – 12 June, aims to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
A carer is anyone who looks after a family member or friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness, addiction, or who needs extra help as they grow older. Whilst many feel that caring is one of the most important things they do, it can be challenging. Caring without the right information and support can be tough, which is why it is vitally important to recognise the contribution carers make and ensure they get the support they need.

More information and resources can be found on the Carers Week 2022 website including ways to get support or join the campaign. You can also take part in face-to-face and online activities happening across the UK during the week – use the virtual map to find out what’s happening near you or add an event you may be running.

Sussex Parent and Carer Staff Network
The network aims to support staff in balancing their caring responsibilities and professional roles and is open to all Sussex colleagues, in any role, who have some form of caring responsibility.
