Unibuddy Communities for Masters students

If you’re interested in a Masters at Sussex, joining our Unibuddy Community will connect you with people you could study with.

What is Unibuddy Communities?

Students with an offer to study a Masters at Sussex can now join our 2025 Unibuddy Community. Communities is a space where you can get to know other people who’ll be joining us to study a Masters, speak with current students and ask questions about life at Sussex, learn more about our local city Brighton & Hove, including where the best places to live are and what the social life is like, find out how to find part-time jobs, and keep track of upcoming events and deadlines - all in one place!

By joining Communities you can:

  • chat with other students who have an offer to study the same course
  • ask questions to current student ambassadors
  • learn more about our local city of Brighton & Hove
  • discuss shared interests and hobbies
  • find out more about upcoming events, welcome activities, clubs and societies.

How to access Communities

You can access communities on desktop or through the Unibuddy app, available on both iOS and Android. Follow the instructions below to get started.

If you’ve received an offer to study with us you will receive an email from the University of Sussex via Unibuddy inviting you to join our Community, within 1-2 weeks of your offer being sent out. Click the purple ‘Join Now’ button to sign up and get started.

Once you’ve logged in, click on the ‘Explore’ tab, scroll down to ‘Groups’ and join our ‘Welcome’ group to start chatting with other offer holders. You can join as many groups as you’d like, or even start your own!

If you’re having trouble accessing Communities, or if you haven’t yet received an email inviting you to join (please note, an invite will typically be sent out within 1-2 weeks of your offer going out) then please get in touch with us at pg.enquiries@sussex.ac.uk and we’ll be happy to help.

Are you already a Community user, perhaps at another university? You can log in as an existing user with the same details, go to your profile picture in the top corner, and click or tap ‘switch Community’, to see all the student Communities you’re a part of.

Rules of conduct

When you’ve joined your Community you’ll be asked to follow the rules listed below to ensure everyone can enjoy the Community safely. Failure to meet the rules below may result in being blocked or banned from Communities.

  • Be kind and courteous: please treat everyone with respect and create a welcoming environment. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
  • Do not share personal information in the group: this includes phone numbers, social media handles, etc.
  • No hate or bullying: make sure that everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind is not tolerated. Personal attacks, inflammatory remarks, profanity, or degrading comments about race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity will not be tolerated.
  • No promotions or spam: give more to the groups than you take. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links are not allowed.
  • Respect everyone’s privacy: being part of these groups requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make group conversations great, but they may also be sensitive and private. Please think twice before you post any personal information. We will act if we see anyone violating these guidelines.

By logging on to the above Community and joining the chat, you agree with the rules listed above. Anyone found to break one of the above rules will be banned and removed from the Community.
