SEI events can be fully online or offer a hybrid option (in person and online). Our events are open to the public, but registration is required. SEI uses the ‘Zoom’ online video conferencing platform for these online events.
If you wish to attend an SEI event, you will be required to register and then sent a zoom link before, or on the day of the event. We ask that you do not share this link with anyone else, or on social media, it should only be used by you personally to access the event.
SEI typically uses Eventbrite to manage registration for online and in-person events. This a third-party service that is not operated by the University of Sussex. Their privacy statement is available here
Zoom Etiquette
Please take note of the below etiquette for attending SEI events via zoom.
- Please ensure that your zoom username is the same as the name you used to register for the event. Unregistered users will not usually be admitted.
- We ask that you keep your microphone muted throughout the event. You are welcome to have your video on during the event but understand that you may wish to have your video off for privacy reasons.
- We encourage questions from you during our events. If you wish to ask a question, please send a message in the chat and the host will unmute you. You can also raise your hand, or simply type your question in the chat or Q&A box. If time constraints mean that we cannot get to your question, we will make sure to forward any unanswered questions to the speakers.
- Any disruptive behaviour by zoom participants will not be tolerated. The host or co-host reserves the right to remove any participants that behave in a disruptive manner during an online event.
