Revision Week is an important part of the academic calendar as it marks the end of teaching and the beginning of the assessment period. The Psychology Student Experience team wanted to create a week of initiatives which would support Psychology Students in getting ready for their assessments with booked reserved revision spaces, breakfast bars, and the most loved event of them all - Doggy De-stress!
On Wednesday 3 May, psychology students were invited to come along to the Meeting House to hang out and spend time with support dogs from Canine Concern. The session encouraged students to have some time away from their screens and revision with cuddles and kisses from the lovely dogs that came along.
The Psychology Student Experience Team were pleased to host nearly 100 students across the two-hour period. This was the biggest pet therapy session the team have ever hosted.
The team are always looking for ways to make their events more accessible and this year, they introduced a ‘Quiet Session’ to the schedule. Without prompt, this session was almost silent and very calm compared to others, with students sitting on the floor and volunteers being mindful about the dogs energy levels and barking.
“Seeing the smiles of happiness and pure joy on students faces makes all the planning worthwhile. Thank you to everyone who booked a ticket and came along. This is an event we are always so grateful to be able to host for our students and look forward to doing each time. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers at Canine Concern for their time, patience and puppies! The event would be nothing without them!”
Thanks for a paw-some time!
