Alert the research office of your intentions and your main requirements by adding the project to Worktribe.
Do this as soon as possible. At least 6 weeks before the funder's deadline.
Add the Research Development Manager for MPS, Daniel Sweet, to the project on Worktribe and also email him to inform him that you are planning an application.
Get your critical friend(s) on board. Send him/her the grant guidelines/guidance.
Get their agreement to help you about 6 weeks before the funder's deadline.
For all grant applications, the PI must ensure there is a quality check by a critical friend, with three exceptions.
- Small grants (< £10K value).
- Grants which are collaborative with the lead investigator outside MPS
- Fellowship applications where the Fellow has written the case for support and the hosting Sussex PI is senior faculty (Reader or Professor). In this case the Sussex PI can take the role of 'critical friend'.
