George studied Chemistry, (B. Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D.) at the University of Ioannina, Ioannian, Greece and then moved to Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany to join Annie K. Powell’s group. George joined the University of Sussex in September 2013. His research group uses basic principles of coordination chemistry combined with an advanced understanding of topology, as the guiding principle, and aims to develop new methodologies for the synthesis of inexpensive inorganic materials as well as perform mechanistic studies to understand their properties and transformative behaviour. George has focused his research interests on ground-breaking aspects of coordination chemistry, including a) Exploration of the catalytic properties of polynuclear 3d/4f Coordination Clusters (CCs), b) Coordination polymers based on benzotriazole ligands and exploration of their catalytic activity and c) Development of the Polynuclear Inorganic Clusters Database (PICD).
