Biography

After graduating with a first class BA(Hons) Business and Economics degree from Northumbria University, I went on to study MSc Development Anthropology at Durham University. This was followed by a MRes in Sustainability at University of Leeds, where I subsequently obtained a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies studying adaptive capacity in mangrove social-ecological systems of Vietnam. Following completion of a postdoctorate research fellowship in rural livelihoods and land use change in Swaziland, at the University of Leeds, I have been employed as a PDRA on the Sussex Sustainability Research Programme (SSRP) project ‘Adaptive Capacity and Collective Action in Marginal Mountainous Areas of India’.

Role

My current research position links research on adaptive capacity with collective action in marginal mountainous areas in India. It aims to explore ways that partnerships between smallholders and development agencies can support local collective action institutions to increase smallholder adaptive capacity to the multiple stressors they face.
